Description: The Nightcliff Bowls Club Inc. was formally established in 24th of June 1984 with the primary purpose of promoting and encouraging the game of lawn bowls.The Bowls Club operates at the premises of the Nightcliff Sports Club Inc. and was officially opened in 1972, at 11 Camphor Street Nightcliff, and is an affiliated club /association of the Nightcliff Sports Club.
The Nightcliff Bowls Club lawn bowls facility has two greens and provides lawn bowls playing facilities for members, visitors and community groups such as schools, social clubs and persons with a handicap. In September 2009 our grass greens were replaced with new synthetic surface making us Darwn's only DryMAX Pro Lawn Bowls Club.
The Club also provides teaching and coaching personnel free of charge to encourage new players to the game and improve the skills and ability of existing ones. Play organized by the club ranges from social recreational to full on competition.
Nightcliff Bowls Club has been the chosen headquarters for most of the Arafura Games lawn bowls tournaments. In 2006 we hosted the Australian Sides Championships at the Nightcliff Bowls Club.. The organization was highly commended by Bowls Australia, all players and officials involved. The Nightcliff Bowls Club also hosts annually the Nightcliff Open Men's and Ladies' Bowls Tournaments in July, and other events that are open to all.
The Nightcliff Bowls Club has produced a number of National level achievers, including National champions and three who have played for Australia against New Zealand.
The Club now boasts 2 National accredited umpires. One of them, Terri Crozier, has been selected to represent Australia at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India.
